I’m gonna be a bride!

engaged
When I was planning my wedding in 2008, I couldn’t find the invitations I liked – the right ones. During my maternity leave I was searching internet for hours! I was looking for something classy, contemporary but modern at the same time. Beautiful and fully personalised as I needed invites in different languages. Besides they should hold more text as I had a lot of information to share with my guests.
Every invite I really liked was definitely too expensive as I was planning a pretty big wedding (over 300 people were invited!). At the same time the ones I could afford were rather bad quality and just looked cheap. After three months of searching with no success, my excitement for wedding planning disappeared almost completely.

And then (hearing me complaining again) my lovely husband-to-be asked me a question. “Why don’t you make them yourself? You’re talented and smart, our daughter (she was then a baby) still sleeps a lot during the day, so you have enough time. There is no hurry as the wedding is still 10 months away… Let’s face it. You will never find just the right ones just for you!”

And yes, I was quite a Bridezilla at a time. Maybe that’s why I understand now why the right shade of ribbon is so important!

Time to let creativity run free

So, I decided to make my wedding invitations by myself. My sister Isabelle promised to help me, as we both have been into crafting since I can remember. And it was the best decision ever! It wasn’t easy but we had such fun with designing and making my invites! However I must say, the amount of time we spent on them was horrendous! Can you imagine making over 170 invitations without any previous experience? Believe me, after that, at a later time, when we started to run our business, no order was too much for us.

As a result I got the invitations I dreamt of, in my colour scheme, with details matching my venue decor and my wedding bouquet. And of course we loved doing invites so much that we ended up designing and making all the other stationery for my wedding day as well, such as place cards, favour tags, guest book, wine bottles tags and many more. Because everything was carefully thought through and made with precision and love, all my guests truly appreciated it. Even now, after 12 years, I sometimes hear them talking about it, saying that it was one of the most beautiful weddings they’ve ever attended.

SISTERS / CO-WORKERS

Besides, I discovered me and my sister are getting along pretty well at work.

Not long after my wedding day Izzie’s got engaged herself. She started planning her own big day (fun fact: after 11 years she’s still planning 😉 and got into the wedding industry world on a full time basis too.

My creativity and Izzie’s technical skills, our love for craft and passion for weddings drove us to quit our jobs and start our own business that we still love now.

Lavender Avenue people

As we had no idea about running a business and we were pretty unsure if anyone is going to be interested in our designs, we started on ebay with low cost invitations. The feedback we got back was so overwhelming that we quickly decided to expand our offer with all matching wedding stationery. But after few years we felt ebay and selling low-budget stationery wasn’t enough for us. We wanted to go further, grow and let our creativity run free without any restrictions. With our heads full of ideas we went into more luxurious direction. We started creating our own space in the web, from social media to the website and online shop, where we present our most beautiful designs and ideas. Now we even plan to open a local boutique with wedding stationery!

OUR MISSION

Remembering how difficult it was for me to find the right wedding invitations and stationery for my own wedding, we design and make high quality wedding stationery as customisable as possible. We want to create wedding stationery which not only amazes you and your guests, reflects your style and compliments the décor of your venue but that also helps you as much as possible to enjoy the experience of wedding planning.

Izzie & Caroline

Izzie, engaged for 12 years and the one who keeps an eye on wedding trends and constantly changes her mind about the venue, theme colours and style of the wedding (luckily the fiancé is still the same), and Caroline, for 12 years happily married, who went through the whole process of wedding planning herself and knows it's hard sometimes, but absolutely doable and at times even exciting! We work in the little studio on the South-East coast of England in beautiful Eastbourne.

We love helping couples plan their special day, and be there for every step of their wedding journey - from wedding invitations to 'on the day' stationery and thank you cards.
